Learn and perform the Pullorum test

posted on February 18, 2015 10:57am

All poultry and game birds except waterfowl and pigeons are required to be blood tested for Pullorum disease before exhibition or movement within the state. Most states require that all poultry, including game birds, have a negative Pullorum test to enter. During ANR Week, Pullorum Certification workshop participants will have the opportunity to learn more about the disease. They’ll also learn how to fill out the associated paperwork, and how to perform the test. Workshop participants will have the chance to perform the test on-site. All necessary equipment and materials needed for testing will be provided.

The Pullorum Certification workshop will take place at the Michigan State University (MSU) Pavilion for Agriculture and Livestock Education on March 10 from 8:30 a.m. to noon. The workshop is free; however, there is a $20 fee for a 3-year certification, payable in cash or personal check at the door. Pre-registration is not necessary.
